Valentine’s Day

We spent Valentine’s Day in LA and what a day it was! (riiiiiiight?) The day started right and Hooch and I went to Fat Burger. For those of you not in the know, Fat Burger is a staple fast-food chain in Los Angeles and Southern California. It’s a step up from typical fast-food like McDonald’s etc. After devouring a half-pound, fried egg, bacon burger, we headed to Long Beach for the night’s activities.

After playing in Long Beach on the previous Wednesday, the bartender invited us to play a cast party for his theatre company named Alive Theatre. The play for V-Day was called  “Jack and Jill: a Romance” and it was intense. The play was done in a style that had the actors performing asides and soliloquy’s during their costume changes, so there were virtually no breaks in the play (except the intermission), and both of the main actors were amazing. The play was powerful in content with the couple exhibiting the ups and downs of a volatile, yet loving, relationship. The play featured Angel Correa as Jack and Angela Lopez as Jill, and both were sensational. Check out the Alive Theatre website for more info on upcoming shows etc. www.alivetheatre.org.

After the play, we quickly set up our instruments and got the party started. The actors, and crowd all got-down to our funky grooves for a few hours after the play. We ended up having a really great show, complete with a ton of crowd participation and excellent dancing.

The night ended after a late-night diner session with some of the actors and friends of the theatre. We headed to our couch-surfing destination for the night…only to find the door locked! Because it was 5 AM I only texted our host, but to no avail. We ended up sleeping in the van for the night (Oh what fun!). Thankfully I only had to deal with Jordan’s advances for a few hours (he moves around quite a bit), because by 8 am the sun was out and the van was hot!

We had a wonderful time in Long Beach and can’t wait to come back and play/hang out with our new friends!
